In Anglophone debates, transnational approaches have been firmly established for some time now, but they are only slowly finding their way into the discussion in Europe. Overall, in this young, but increasingly popular field, the notion of the transnational is still characterized by a certain vagueness. The Zurich conference aims to productively address this vagueness, asking for the epistemological, methodological, and didactic potentials of doing film studies from a transnational perspective.
