The economic, social and cultural transformation of East-Central Europe in the last decades of the twentieth century is the last grand modern social, economic and political change in European history. Fiction film and television production of the region has recorded it and has been shaped by it. This special issue of SEEC aims to study this audiovisual testimony and look into how the filmic and television output of the region has contributed to imagining socialist and postsocialist reality.
